In spring of 2009 the newest line of Samsung lcdhd tvs were unveiled. These models offer an increased contrast ratio along with thinner and lighter models then the previous Samsung hd lcd tv lineup. 

If you are in the market for tvs and have been checking out different models, no doubt the alphabet soup of tv manufacturers model numbers and letters can be overwhelming. Let me try to simplify things a bit and give you an overview of this year's models.

Samsung LNxx series

Some of the most popular and highly regarded Samsung LCDHD tvs among consumers are:

This line replaces the 2008 Samsung LCD tv line.  More information about the 2008 models can be found here.  The 2008 models will have an "A" in the model name (ie LNxxAxxx) where the 2009 models will have a "B" in the model name.

When evaluating the 2009 Samsung LCDHD models you will generally see them named like this:

Samsung LNxxByyy (ie Samsung LN46B750)

The xx = the size of the LCD screen size in inches (ie 46").  Models range from 19" up to 65" in the following sizes (19", 22", 26", 32", 37", 40", 46", 52", 55", 65")

The yyy = the specific series of the model (model 750, series 7).  Current series range from series 3 to series 7

Samsung HD LCD series 3 and 4

Samsung lcdhd models in these series range in sizes from 19" to 32".  They are 720p and 60Hz with a 15,000:1 contrast ratio and all include at least 1 HDMI inputs.  Due to their smaller sizes they are generally not considered home theater tvs, however they are great for a bedroom or a kitchen and can be found at a very affordable rate.  One of the most popular Samsung hd lcd models right now is the Samsung LN26B360 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV.

Samsung HD LCD series 5

Samsung lcdhd models in this series are available in 32", 37", 40", 46", and 52" sizes.  Models in this series feature 1080p and a 60Hz refresh rate with a 6ms response time.  

The B530 model has a 60,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 3 HDMI inputs, while the B540 model comes with an additional HDMI input (on the 46" and 52" models) and adds the stylish Touch of Color design.  The B550 increases contrast ratio up to 70,000:1.

These lcds offer an exceptional picture with a rich, natural color and can be a great entry point into the world of high definition home theater.  Popular Series 5 models include:

Samsung HD LCD series 6

Samsung lcdhd models in this series are available in a wide variety of screen sizes, from as small as 19" all the way up to the largest screen size of 65".  Models that are 32" and above are 1080p and include a 4ms response time and 120Hz refresh rate with Auto Motion Plus for smooth fluid motion.  They offer a generous 4 HDMI inputs, a game mode and come in the popular Touch of Color design.

The B630 model has an 80,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and includes InfoLink which allows for RSS feeds of news, sports and weather.  The B640 offers an Ultra Clear panel and DLNA compatibility.  The B650 models have a 100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and features Samsung's online content service through a wired or wireless connection to access content such as YouTube or Flickr at the push of a button.

Samsung lcdhd models in this series are available in 40", 46" and 52" screen sizes.  Models in this series are 1080p and include a 2ms response time and a true 240Hz refresh rate for virtually eliminating motion blur on the screen.  They have a 150,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 4 HDMI inputs.  They also offer Picture-in-picture, a game mode and Medi@2.0 to allow internet content and includes Content Library which allows access to cooking recipes, fitness exercises and much more.  These models come in the stylish Charcoal Grey Touch of Color design.

The exceptionally smooth picture as a result of 240Hz refresh rate and the excellent dynamic contrast ratio along with additional features make these excellent options for a home theater setup for sports and movies.  Popular series 7 models include:
